Mikko Kosonen, one of Levyraad’s panelists, opens up about the reasons why he hasn’t toured with his wife Maija Vilkkumaa for years.
The songs performed on the album are brought to life by the guitarist Mikko Kososeen, 46. The dark-clad rock star shakes his head to set the mood for the songs, but sometimes he casually writes notes in his notebook. During the jamming, the chest hair and silver necklaces are parted under the guitarist’s black collared shirt.
After filming the first episode, Kosonen sits down for an interview with Iltalehti. He says that he strives to be a judge, whose assessment is based on three points: emotional reaction, professional analytical side and empathy.
– So I try to put myself in the shoes of the songwriter and remind myself that behind the song there are people who do this with pure hearts. I have no desire to be a cold critic trying to come up with witty ways to put people down. I’m not that kind of person anyway, he opens.

Kosonen himself has played in many top-name bands in Finland, such as Cheekin, Samuli Edelmann’s and Anssi Kelan. Kosonen also served as his spouse for a long time Maija Vilkumaan50, as a guitarist.
However, the couple has not worked together for years. According to Kosonen, there is a proven reason behind the decision.
– We realized that it is some kind of obstacle to complete work. We concluded that it makes more sense to work separately, says the guitarist.
– However, we worked together for years, so it is possible. But I don’t particularly recommend it to anyone. Our current arrangement works better, that is, we play in different bands, he adds.
Kosonen fondly remembers their gigs together, and sometimes he misses them.
– Yes, you miss it in a certain way, but I’m not someone who yearns for the past in general. What I do next is more important to me than past successes.
