In October 2026, the Recoleta Cultural Center will be the starting point of something that has never existed before in the history of an Argentine character with global reach: Immersive Mafaldaa large-scale cultural entertainment experience that will allow the public to literally walk into the universe that Quino built strip by strip over decades. From Buenos Aires, the exhibition will begin a international tour through Europe and Latin America.

The proposal occupies 1,300 square meters distributed in 15 themed roomseach one conceived as its own universe set in the characters, spaces and major themes of the strip: family, politics, the human soul, Quino’s unclassifiable humor. The entire route lasts 60 minutes and it is designed for all generations: for those who grew up with Mafalda and for those who are going to discover it for the first time. The little ones will also have their own play space, with games designed especially for them. This intergenerational bridge is, according to its creators, the heart of the project.

Technology is at the service of the work, not the other way around. Immersive Mafalda integrate high resolution video mapping, 360° projections with spatialized surround sound, multi-user virtual reality —which allows the simultaneous experience of multiple visitors in real time—, interactive touch screens, volumetric sculptures of the iconic characters and original music composed especially for the sample. The 2D animations were created respecting Quino’s original lines and texts with complete fidelity: each strip gains movement without losing a single line of its essence.

The project has the exclusive license of the successors of Joaquín S. Lavado Tejón and it was made with the explicit commitment to preserve the voice, look and spirit with which Quino imagined his character. Behind each decision, an international multidisciplinary team based on Argentina, Spain and England.

The experience has already received recognition “New Shores”awarded by the French Institute of Argentina (IFA) and the French Embassyan endorsement that links it to the French immersive industry and supports its international cultural dimension.

At the head of the project is Damian KirznerDirector and General Producer, one of the greatest references of extended realities (XR) in Latin America. Graduated in Social Communication from the UBA, his career in media and entertainment exceeds 35 years: He was Artistic Manager of Ideas from the South and Promofilmand first Programming and Content Manager of LN+. On television he created and produced titles that marked an era: Surprise and a Half, Fugitives, Parents and Children, Squatters, Juana and her Sisters and Adetroya. He worked alongside directors such as Fabian Bielinsky, Bruno Stagnaro, Eliseo Subiela, Pablo Fisherman and Juan José Jusid. His productions won awards Martin Fierro and a bronze medal in the New York Festival. was elected Young Creative Entrepreneur for Argentina for the British Council of the United Kingdom and finalist of the Digital Emmy Awards.

“It will be a unique trip that will connect digital natives and the older generations with the endearing world of Mafalda,” Kirzner anticipated.
