That of this Monday is announced with minimum services of 100%, which, in the opinion of the conveners, “violates the right to strike”

A new three-day strike in extra-hospital emergenciesfrom this Monday to Wednesday, suggests a year of conflict in the Madrid health system, which could worsen if the Primary Care doctors resume the indefinite strike on January 12 that they left on hold shortly before Christmas Eve.

The strike this Monday, with 100% minimum servicesis convened by SummAT, Mats, CSIF, Afem and AME, within the framework of the intermittent strikes that began in November against the plan to reorganize extra-hospital emergencies launched in October by the Government of Díaz Ayuso.

Said plan involved the reopening of 78 continuing care points (PAC) or 24-hour care centers, after the closure of the old Primary Care Emergencies (Suap) during the pandemic and, more recently, the Rural Care Services (SAR) that until now functioned with complete teams: doctor, nurse, and orderly.

Nevertheless, The government plan only provides for there to be a doctor in 49 centerswhile 29 will only have nursing and orderly staff, and even then the Ministry of Health is not managing to cover the positions due to lack of personnel.

In fact, On January 7, there was a lack of doctors in 25 of the 49 centers (51%) that have the three categories, while of the centers without a doctor, four could not open and there was a lack of personnel in another five centers, according to the latest count of the SAR Platform and the Health Centers Platform.

The organizers of today’s strike criticize the minimum services of 100% set by the Community of Madrid, which “violate the right to strike”and affirm that in the intermittent stoppages of November and December, the Administration itself “has breached the minimum services since it has not been able to cover the necessary personnel”.

Health center doctors strike

last December 22 The Amyts union temporarily suspended, until January 11, the indefinite strike of Family doctors and pediatricians who had been in place since November 21 to demand a minimum of ten minutes per patient, a limitation of schedules and an improvement in the working conditions of professionals to prevent them from escaping to other regions or countries.

After six meetings with the Ministry of Health without reaching an agreement, both parties agreed to “the temporary suspension of the indefinite strike until January 11” -the date on which they will hold another meeting-, and in this meeting it will be seen if the positions have come close enough as to call off the strike or if the indefinite strike will continue as of January 12.
