Madness: Karel Sabbe sets record on Pacific Crest Trail

In March Karel Sabbe was one of the few who walked out of the Barkley Mountains. You would think he would have had it for a while, but a good month ago the dentist from Anzegem started a new adventure. He wanted to break the record on the Pacific Crest Trail, a hiking trail of 4,280 kilometers between Mexico and Canada. So today he arrived at the terminus: “Northern Terminus”.

Forest fires did not deter him

For a moment it seemed to be a hellish task, because forest fires in the north of Washington forced Sabbe to make a detour of more than 100 kilometers. In the end, he took more than four days off the previous top time.
