CDA senator Madeleine van Toorenburg will become acting mayor in the municipality of Geertruidenberg from 11 September. Commissioner of the King Ina Adema sworn in on Wednesday, reports the province of Brabant. Van Toorenburg is still observing the mayor’s office in Nuenen.
The director and politician was a member of the Lower House for the CDA from 2007 to 2021. In 2021 she was elected deputy in the province of Limburg and received the Social Domain, Sport, Culture and Supervision and Enforcement portfolio.
Van Toorenburg became a member of the Senate in 2023. She has been an acting mayor in Nuenen for a year and a half.

Marian Witte stops after more than five years as mayor of Geertruidenberg. She will soon become mayor of the South Holland municipality of Hoeksche Waard. A few months ago she was nominated for a second term of office in Geertruidenberg.
