Macklemore, whose real name is Ben Haggerty, announced his new work “Ben” on March 3, 2023. In addition, he will go on tour next year and play five concerts in Germany.

With “Maniac” feat. Windser, “Chant” together with Tones And I and “Faithful” featuring NLE Choppa have already released three singles. You can see the music video for the latest release “Faithful” here:

The rapper has gained increasing notoriety since 2011 as one half of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. With their first joint record “The Heist” (2012), which they created entirely on their own, the musicians paved the way for their further career.

“Ben” provides insight into Macklemore’s struggle against drugs and alcohol

Again and again the singer speaks publicly about his drug and alcohol addiction. Also on “Ben” he will devote himself to this topic and his relapse after 16 years.

In “Faithful” the musician turns to this topic. Macklemore is quoted in the press release for “Ben”: “I wrote ‘Faithful’ after a relapse in 2020 that took me back to a darkness that was very familiar to me and naively thought I had escaped . It’s a personal song for me about my struggles with addiction. As far as I can remember I wanted to be clean and yet the illness I have is always present and always haunting me. The record explores the presence of addiction in all facets of my life and how pervasive and insidious it can be.”
