Because of an unusual request to Machine Gun Kelly, a fan traveled from Mexico to Belgium.
During his performance at the Rock Werchter festival in Belgium on Saturday (July 1), Machine Gun Kelly granted a fan’s greatest wish: to be slapped in the face by MGK for once.
Recently there have been an increasing number of incidents in which artists are attacked on stage by concertgoers. For example, Bebe Rexha was hit in the head by a cell phone that was thrown at the singer from the crowd. Ava Max was even slapped in the face during a performance in LA by a concert-goer who broke onto the stage without permission.
With Machine Gun Kelly, on the other hand, the musician himself is the one who deals out. At least at the concert in Belgium. In the middle of the gig, the 33-year-old artist from Texas interrupted his set when he noticed a fan holding a sign towards the stage with a very special request for the singer: “I just came from Mexico 4 u 2 punch me in the face”. . Which means in German: The person traveled all the way from Mexico to be hit in the face by MGK. The artist, whose real name is Colson Baker, read the sign out loud to the crowd and then wondered about it at length. “Why do you want me to smack you in the face so badly?” he asked the Mexican concertgoer, who replied “I love you!” MGK went on to explain, “I wear rings, that shit is gonna really hurt.”
“I don’t know if I’ll do it yet, but I’m thinking about it,” said the musician, who has been engaged to actress Megan Fox since 2022. Half an hour later his decision was made. So the singer got off the stage and went to the fan in the front row to grant his wish. After punching the Mexican in the face, who at least from the recordings doesn’t look like a full swing, MGK said into the mic that he loved the man he just hit. After that, the normal performance continued and the fan seemed visibly pleased.
Machine Gun Kelly posted a video of the action on his Instagram account with the caption “Making dreams come true”:
MGK is currently on tour. He honored Berlin with a show at the beginning of June.
Machine Gun Kelly’s most recent album, MAINSTREAM SELLOUT (2022), earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album in 2023.
