NOTHING IS QUITE AS IT WAS, BUT NOTHING REALLY CHANGES

WALD / ROSSBACH, December 2021: MAC is presenting a diverse and trendy men’s collection for autumn / winter 2021. The themes CLASSIC FUNDAMENTAL, DARK ELEGANCE, HUMBLE & SUSTAINABLE and FUNCTIONAL PERFORMANCE are the inspiration themes for the current denim and flat styles. Design variants in classic elegance and constant MAC quality round off the menswear collection. “A hybrid of business and homeware has developed,” says Simon Khasani, Creative Director MAC Menswear. “We see these themes as a continuation of the summer styles in harmony with nature,” the chief designer continues. The MAC collection is for the man who appreciates comfortable styles but does not want to forego elegance.

CLASSIC FUNDAMENTALS

The CLASSIC FUNDAMENTALS theme exudes classic aesthetics. As the name suggests, the MAC-HAKA team presents timeless styles in flowing, high-quality fabrics such as fine wool blends, sustainable polyester-viscose and high-quality cotton-tencel blends. Fine tencel cord, real wool, flannel and Giza denim play a major role in the Fundamentals.
The forms are tailored and sartorial. Wide and straight styles are being expanded. Chino variants are extensive and pleated styles such as PACO, TYLER and ALEX are also being expanded. The looks are monochrome with tonal layerings. Except for subtle stripes, there are hardly any designs. The fabrics are mainly uni and uni-close. Neutral colors are enhanced with pastels. The trend theme is rounded off by constantly evolving classics.

DARK ELEGANCE

This collection theme contrasts with the previous theme. Black is the main color. It is contrasted by shades of red. Dark brown is also important. The soft fabrics thrive on matt-gloss contrasts and underline the dark and elegant mood of the collection theme. As an alternative to the wide silhouettes, the styles appear in slim, sharp-cut shapes. Narrow tapered shapes like GRIFFIN and the new G-CYCLE are becoming important. Ironed crease variants bring noblesse to the collection. Fabrics with technical statements will be further expanded. Compact gaberdine, stretch satin, cotton-nylon-stretch and jersey melange are elementary in DARK ELEGANCE.

HUMBLE & SUSTAINABLE

Sustainability is firmly anchored in the men’s collection. The autumn / winter 2022/2023 theme reflects the new longing for nature and the desire to travel with a mix of rustic styles and urban casualness. Robust and washed looks determine the looks. The visual influence of the 90s is particularly evident in the denim segment. Slight destroys reinforce the vintage style. Structured surfaces emphasize the rough looks. Classic designs that are complemented by bouclé looks and needle cord are selected to match. Sustainable fabrics and new basic qualities such as hemp are important for the topic of HUMBLE & SUSTAINABLE. MAC is further expanding the proportion of organic cotton. Recycled denim and organic cotton dominate this collection theme. MACFLEXX and JOG’N JEANS show sustainable properties. Re-used cotton and recycled polyester (PET) are used for the two 5-pocket styles. The world of colors is dominated by earth tones and spice colors: from soft saffron to dark olive and soft rust brown to juicy ocher brown. The denim styles are available in a variety of washes. O-Shapes determine the sustainable range of shapes, such as GRIFFIN CARGO or Denim-TRAVIS. Cargo styles with workwear details such as TAYLOR WORKER emphasize the urban casualness. Other denim styles such as TRAVIS in O-shape or the casual BEN complement the sustainable shapes. BEN was expanded to a total of eight washes. All in all, 93% of all MAC products have at least two sustainability aspects.

FUNCTIONAL PERFORMANCE

The styles in the FUNCTIONAL PERFORMANCE collection are sporty and chic. Not only are the styles functional here, the goods are also functional – mainly technical. The surface structures show a slight sheen. Breathable polyamide and cotton blends ensure circulation. Compact jersey fibers are also used in this theme. Details such as cords, practical grosgrain ribbons and functional press studs increase wearing comfort and make the style practical. The LENNOX SPORT with drawstring, MACFLEXX in a slim fit and G-FUTURE as part of the new cycle capsule can be assigned to these sporty styles. Dark blue, muted neon green and white set the tone. The popular DRIVERS PANT was further developed in the sporty design theme and a CYCLING PANT was launched.

The cooperation with the consumer magazine MyBike reaches its climax with the new autumn / winter 2022 collection: The MAC design team presents the CYCLEFLXX in denim and flat quality. The trousers are available as 5-pockets and in a chino version. Functionality, safety and business chic characterize these pants. The styles show the result of the detailed reader survey on the properties and special features that perfect pants for biking should bring with them. The denim CYCLEFLXX is a mixture of the JOG ‘N JEANS and the MACFLEXX with re-used cotton and recycled polyester. With an elasticity of up to 80%, the pants are extremely comfortable to wear and, thanks to their considerable cotton content, are particularly breathable. The chinos are made of bi-elastic gaberdine. MAC offers the CYCLEFLEXX denim in five washes, the chinos for the first launch in classic blue and black. Both styles also have a security pocket – the chinos have a zip. In addition, the trousers are equipped with a practical shirt stopper so that the shirt does not slip out of the trousers at the back. The hybrid look for bike and office is rounded off by reflectors on the pockets, on the lapel and on the waistband label. Not least because of the inconspicuous reflectors, the style does not appear functional, but completely suitable for everyday use. Like all MAC trousers, the CYCLINGFLEXX is of high quality and of the highest quality.

The DRIVERS PANT line has also been expanded with the new autumn / winter collection. With the look created in collaboration with the end consumer magazine AUTO MOTOR UND SPORT, function and trend are not mutually exclusive. The straight cut trousers made of hard-wearing, durable denim from Europe and with a stretchy waistband ensure maximum comfort. Double belt loops at the back ensure a perfect hold. In addition, the pants are cut lower at the front and higher at the back. This special cut has two effects: the front does not constrict when sitting and the shirt does not slip out of the pants at the back. The ULTMIATE DIRVERS PANTS are now also available as chinos. In the “MAC meets RUF” line, in which the pants manufacturer works with the luxury car manufacturer, there are now three NOS models. This season the series was expanded with three more models. The look now looks more robust overall. The washes range from very light to very dark. In addition to the NOS colors beige and blue, the chinos are currently also available in bordeaux and brown. The JOG’N JEANS stock program with re-used cotton and recycled polyester has been expanded. The popular jeans are now available in ten washes.
