Not only in terms of housing, but also in terms of education, the university is increasingly focusing on the region. Letschert: “We already offer training in Venlo, we are looking at whether we can expand this. We are also in talks with Heerlen to expand the range of training there.” Has the university become too big for Maastricht? “Well, we don’t aim for huge growth, we don’t conduct aggressive campaigns to exclude students, but every year there is still slight growth. That is necessary, otherwise you stand still, and if you stand still you go backwards. That is also why we are developing in other cities in Limburg.”
