Luuk Ikink, presenter of RTL Boulevard, drops a bombshell. He states that sources indicate that the TV exit of Goede Tijden Bad Tijden is near. “Renze starts at 10 p.m..”
It has been coming for a while: the TV exit of Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden. RTL 4 did not rule out the linear ending of the soap series for the first time last fall – the channel always did that before – so there is a good chance that everything will move exclusively to Videoland at some point. The low viewing figures accelerate this.
Fixed beacon
Presenter Vivienne van den Assem points it out RTL Boulevard noted that SBS 6 managed to beat GTST for the first time this week with their own eight-hour title Allies. “There is something of a storm happening in television land at the moment.”
She continues: “Allies is a great success on SBS and this week such a success that it actually hinders the original soap Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden, because where GTST loses viewing figures, Allies takes them away completely. So how safe is that permanent beacon of RTL 4 in 2026?”
How nervous
Vivienne presents it to TV expert Rob Goossens. “GTST struggles every now and then. How nervous does this make RTL, do you think?”
Rob then: “I wondered that too, so we asked. Unfortunately, they didn’t want to respond, but we know that Peter van der Vorst almost immediately got involved with GTST when he was appointed. They have been working on the question in recent years: how can we keep GTST relevant and successful?”
Whimsical
GTST is clearly in a slump at the moment, according to Rob. “And GTST, if you look at the past few years, has always been a bit erratic. The return of Katja Schuurman was very enjoyable. Then it went through the roof for a while and now it is a bit less.”
He continues: “You can say: we are going to put it on Videoland and the people who want to watch it will still have a place to find it. Things are indeed going well there. It is often used as an excuse, but at GTST it scores well on Videoland.”
Quick TV exit
Luuk Ikink then drops a bomb. “Maybe that moment is coming, because we hear from several sources that RTL is in any case thinking about moving Renze to 10 p.m. That would be almost complete. That would be half an hour earlier and where do you get that half hour from? Maybe at 8 p.m. at GTST.”
Rob: “Yes, that was one of the concerns about RTL Tonight. When Lubach is on the air, they have the big program at 8:30 p.m., then Lubach comes first at 10 p.m. and then Beau and Humberto. Then it starts late, ends late and you are fighting with people who just turn off the television.”
Nice attack
According to Luuk, there are two options: moving prime time to 8 p.m. or moving Lubach from 10 p.m. to 8 p.m.
That is quite an option, says Rob. “It would be a nice attack on the NOS Journaal. Lubach is known to attract NPO viewers to RTL.”
