Lukoki died in hospital after being assaulted by relatives

Former Ajax player Jody Lukoki is said to have died as a result of an assault by two cousins and a friend during a party in Almere. That reports Het Parool tonight.

According to The Parool the former Ajax player went to the hospital after the assault because he had a lot of pain in his head and knee. In the hospital, his condition would have deteriorated and it would also have been determined that his leg had to be amputated. The use of nitrous oxide may have played a role in this. After that, he would have been kept in a coma and eventually died of cardiac arrest.

It is not clear whether the police have made any arrests after the assault. A spokesperson only wants to tell the newspaper that a complaint has been made.

Lukoki made his debut in Ajax’s first team in 2011 and played 35 matches. He left in 2013 and played for several clubs after that. This season Lukoki was under contract with FC Twente. In February, he left without playing a game after being convicted of domestic violence.

This morning it became clear that Lukoki was passed away† The cause of death had not yet been released at the time.
