Despite his success against Rob Cross at the Darts World Cup, the 18-year-old is booed and attacked online. Now Lisa Littler has spoken out about the insults against her son.
Luke Littler is in the quarter-finals of the Darts World Cup after beating Rob Cross 4-2. But despite the superstar’s victory, he is not alone in the public spotlight – but suddenly also mother Lisa Littler. Because she came forward after criticism of her son and publicly defended him – with clear words.
What had happened? After the win against Cross, the 18-year-old responded to the boos in the “Ally Pally” in an interview on Sky Sport and provoked the audience even further. “I just want to say one thing: You pay for the tickets and you pay my prize money, so thank you for my money,” Littler said. “Thank you for booing me! Thank you! Thank you!”
There were then outraged and even angry comments at wrote one user. Lisa Littler responded quickly: “So they buy tickets with their hard-earned money and then sit and boo like idiots.”
She also didn’t want to leave another sharp criticism uncommented. One user wrote: “Littler is probably the most unbearable and arrogant guy in all of sport! I can’t stand him – just a terribly unpleasant person.” Mama Littler’s response: “Luke won’t be able to sleep now.” Behind it she put two laughing smileys – and a finger.
On New Year’s Day, Luke Littler will face Poland’s Krzysztof Ratajski in the quarter-finals of the World Darts Championship. It is quite possible that mother Lisa will speak out again afterwards to protect her offspring.
