Gerwyn Price was able to beat Luke Littler in the final on the sixth matchday of the Premier League Darts. Nevertheless, it is clear to the Welsh: The reigning world champion will not be stopped in the coming years.
“I wanted to win another victory against Luke to stay in the top group. He is one of the best in the world and will stay it in the next few years. He will get better and better,” Gerwyn Price told Luke Littler in Nottingham to “Sky Sports”.
The “Iceman” added: “I praise him every single day. I think he will break Phil Taylor’s records and there is no one in the PDC who can stop him.”
Littler leads the Premier League Darts after the first six match days with 16 points ahead of Luke Humphries (15), Price (12) and Michael van Gerwen (10).
Price: Littler has “done miracles for sport”
Price currently sees darts sports in general. “Only the younger generation can [Luke Littler] Stop, we can’t stop him. It will be better and better, “said the 40-year-old.
Littler “did miracles for sport. We have to start all of them now, because in the next few years it will be unbeatable,” said Price, who added: “He has brought sport to a new level and he deserves everything he gets.”
Littler has written a real darts fairy tale in the past year and a half. At the age of 16, the Englishman was already in the final at the World Cup, with 17 triumphed “The Nuke” in Alexandra Palace.
Littler had recently won the UK Open. The now 18-year-old already won his fifth major title in the seventh finale. Littler is now in second place in the world rankings, only Humphries is still in front of him.
