Darts star Luke Littler wanted to compete in a tournament in Wigan – but he was too late. The reason: a tragic accident on the highway.

Luke Littler was actually supposed to compete in a tournament in Wigan, England, on Wednesday. But the 18-year-old Englishman didn’t register on time and was therefore not allowed to play. Littler was supposed to arrive on site by 11 a.m. local time, but he missed the deadline – for a sad reason.

Luke Littler later shared this himself on Instagram: “Today I missed registering for the Pro Tour, but unfortunately someone lost their life. I’m thinking of everyone.” He then captioned the whole thing with a “bedded hands” emoji. On the way to register for the tournament there was a serious accident that resulted in his death. For this reason, the road was probably completely closed and there was no way through.

After the rejection, Littler initially reacted with humor, writing on social networks: “Back to bed. I wonder who they will nominate.” There is another tournament in Wigan on Thursday, new opportunity for Luke Littler.
