Luka Doncic is facing a suspension again. On Friday, the 16th technical foul was called against the Slovenian in the Los Angeles Lakers’ 116:99 win against the Brooklyn Nets. If this decision stands, he would have to serve a one-game ban.

Towards the end of the third quarter, Doncic gave his opponent Ziaire Williams a slight shove, whereupon the Nets guard gave a small wipe to the chin. After video review, crew chief Sean Wright issued a technical foul to both players.

Last weekend, during the Lakers’ narrow 105:104 win over the Orlando Magic, Doncic originally had his 16th technical foul whistled against him after he and Magic center Goga Bitadze had a verbal argument while the Slovenian star guard was at the free throw line. However, LA successfully appealed and the technical fouls of both players were withdrawn.

If the suspension is not canceled this time, Doncic would have to sit out Monday’s game against the Washington Wizards in the middle of the MVP race.

Things have been going smoothly for Doncic on the court recently: the Lakers professional was named Player of the Week in the Western Conference for the second time in a row. The 27-year-old also excelled against the Nets with 41 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Over the entire season, the man from Ljubljana is averaging 33.6 points, 7.8 rebounds and 8.3 assists after 61 games.
