LuisaViaRoma welcomes the Year of the Dragon with art installation

The Italian fashion retailer LuisaViaRoma is also joining the celebrations for the Chinese Lunar New Year and presents an immersive installation that was created in collaboration with the Chinese designer Sean Wu.

The bamboo installation in the LuisaViaRoma store in Florence is intended to celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year, which this year is under the sign of the dragon, in an interplay of Eastern aesthetics and sustainable materials, the brand said in a statement on Wednesday.

The Chinese artist uses bamboo as the central element of the installation – the material is a symbol of robustness, grace and harmony in Chinese culture. A large illuminated sculpture at the store entrance invites visitors to immerse themselves in the store and the art installation. Inside, visitors can discover three different artistic spatial concepts. The bamboo sticks were worked by Wu to recreate dragon shapes. The wave-shaped sculptures are additionally highlighted by a lighting system.

“I believe that creativity has the power to touch hearts and create connections between people. Just like the spirit of a dragon, it lies in the ability to connect and unify,” Sean Wu said in the statement.

The installation will be on display at the LuisaViaRoma store in Florence from February 6th to 21st.
