Lukas Podolski has clarified his future – and has thus triggered cheering with the fans of Gornik Zabrze. On the sidelines of the last home game of the season against Korona Kielce, the 2014 world champion announced in front of a home backdrop that he would play another season for the traditional club.

“Gornik and this region are my home. I grew up here and I come here,” said Podolski. He announced that he wanted to end his career at Gornik – but not yet. It was a very difficult decision to stop at some point, but the time had not yet come.

“I will end my career here. It was a very difficult decision for me, but at some point you have to stop. Just not now.” Podolski changed from Antalyaspor in Turkey to Zabrze in the summer of 2021. His personal story began in the Polish city – he grew up there before starting a great career in Germany.
