Germany’s fastest sprinter Gina Lückenkemper wants to reach the 100-meter final at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest in August.
“After last year I still have a small bill to settle with my individual start, so I was eliminated in the semifinals,” said the 26-year-old from SCC Berlin in the “Sky” interview about her performance at the 2022 World Cup in Eugene/ UNITED STATES.
“That’s definitely not what I had in mind. That’s why I’m doing something completely new this year.”
The fact that her recent consistently fast times are attracting more and more attention from her competitors does not put her under any pressure. “I’ve already noticed that more and more people are paying attention to what I’m doing. I’m also being noticed more by the international competition,” said the double European champion of 2022.
“But that’s not something I find particularly bad, it’s also a kind of small accolade, which I’m also happy about.”
