Delias was taken to hospital on April 6, 2020 with sirens screaming. His pupils were dilated and his heart rate was so low that he was put on a ventilator in the ambulance. At that time he was 2 years and 8 months old.

Doctors discovered that he had a major brain hemorrhage and soon could do nothing more for him. After pathological examination, Delias was found to have more serious injuries, such as traumatic damage to his brain, spinal cord, bruises in all layers of his retina and hemorrhages in his eye.

Head against threshold

The foster mother has always denied that she caused the toddler’s injury. She says that she saw Delias with his head in the dog water bowl, then grabbed him and his head hit the threshold. She also says she shook him to wake him up.

The court says it partly believes these statements. But extensive forensic research shows that the boy died as a result of severe violence. According to the court, it is inevitable that DR abused the toddler in such a way that he died.

The court says that she probably did not do this with the intention of injuring Delias so severely, but she consciously took the risk that the boy would sustain serious bodily harm.
