Just like many participants of the Alpe d’HuZes, Lotte has also had to deal with cancer. Two years ago she lost her father Marten to the disease, this year she is participating in the climb in France for the first time.

She has already been training. “I bought a racing bike especially for the occasion. I try to make long trips and practice climbs in, for example, the Ardennes,” she says. “I like to push my sporting boundaries and put a dot on the horizon.”

In addition, she spins at her gym Xfitclub in Huizen. He decided to give her a helping hand by organizing a spin marathon. In four stages of one hour, money is spinded together for Lottes collection campaign. Family, friends and other gym members join the promotion, so that a total of more than 150 people cycle.

In the basement of the gym, the spinners are pushed through the stamping music of the DJ and the colored lamps and stroboscopes. Two huge fans provide some cooling.

“I will continue until the end,” says Lotte halfway through the marathon from her spider device. “My father had found this very beautiful. I take him upstairs.”
