The Heavy metal band Lordi, which has also made its Eurovision winner debut in Finland, has entered into co-operation with the animal rights organization PETA.

A bulletin published on PETA’s website states that the campaign will make people aware that painful experiments on animals are still being carried out in Europe.

The band is also said to be running a support campaign for the European Citizens’ Initiative, which originated with the international PETA communities.

The initiative involves major cosmetics brands such as Dove and The Body Shop, as well as more than 100 animal welfare associations. They call on the EU to maintain and strengthen the ban on animal testing in cosmetics.

The bulletin says unnecessary animal testing is still being done, especially with regard to certain cosmetic ingredients that have been used safely for years.

– Animal life is more important than lipstick or a shampoo bottle – only real monsters think otherwise. So if you are an EU citizen, join us in signing this European Citizens’ Initiative, Lordi says in a press release.

PETA stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and it is one of the world’s largest animal rights organizations.
