Bas Nijboer has with his English double -decker Won the election for the most original overnight stay in the Netherlands. “It is really in the style of a bus on the inside, but with every comfort. There is a dishwasher and Airfryer, but also a roof terrace and jacuzzi. Our guests enjoy it!”
The double -decker You can find Eersel in Brabant, near Eindhoven. He is in the yard of Bas and his family, on the edge of the forest. It is not the only accommodation: you will also find three Finnish huts on the site. So the bus was a strange duck. “I came across the red double-decker on Facebook that had already been converted into a camper. My imagination started to work right away. I saw it all the way: delicious in the sun on the roof terrace, or relax in your private Jacuzzi,” says Bas.

Work on the store
A friend of Bas knew the seller of the double -decker and so the bus was placed on the land of Bas and his family. A major renovation was still needed to turn it into a luxury accommodation. “There was still power to go, a built -in toilet and that roof terrace must of course come.”
At that time, the Het Houtwerk company was just busy with the Danse Macabre, the new attraction of Efteling, but was able to free up some time to provide the double -decker with a sun terrace. “We have replaced a window above a wooden door, so that you can sunbathe from your bedroom. There is also a mobile shower that looks like an English telephone booth.” In addition to the facilities, Bas did his best to really make the bus cozy. There is a stove, cozy lighting is connected to the original stop-lights.

No scoopers, but a camel
Although there are several accommodations and the home of the Bas family on the site, you are completely free on the bus. “Except for our camel, Patrick. From the jacuzzi, he stares at you,” says Bas Laughing. Patrick (or ‘cap’) even made the news a few years ago when he was blown into the pool during a storm. Alpacas Dirk and Will are also there in the meadow. You can feed and hug the animals. In any case, it is an animal in the Nijboer house: there are 36 animals in total.
In addition to the roof terrace and the jacuzzi, you will also find a nice lounge corner with a rocking chair and a barbecue. Bas also rents (electric) bicycles and mountain bikes, so you can also opt for a wonderful bike ride during your stay. Through your own private path you walk or cycle into the forests.
