LOOK. Impressive images of rock avalanche: train traffic between France and Italy is flat for days | Environment

No trains will run between France and Italy until at least Thursday. The cause is a rock avalanche in the Maurienne valley in the French Alps, near the border with Italy. A number of roads are also blocked.

Due to the enormous amounts of rain, the Alps have to deal with mudslides and rock avalanches. In this video alone, about 700 m³ of rock came down in the village of Saint-André. Fortunately there were no casualties.

A security barrier could not stop the natural disaster. According to the French Minister of Transport Clement Beaune, everything is being done to make the rail and roads accessible to traffic as soon as possible.

The Fréjus tunnel, which connects France and Italy, is closed to heavy trucks. Drivers are advised to use the Mont Blanc tunnel or the A8 as an alternative route.
