A suspected important Russian lieutenant general was killed on Tuesday when his car exploded in a Moscow suburb. According to eyewitnesses, the 62-year-old man managed to get out of the burning car alive, but his injuries were too serious. According to war bloggers, it would be Damir Davydov, who was responsible for the supply of missiles and ammunition at the front in Ukraine at the Russian Ministry of Defense.

LOOK. It was a huge bang: Russian general probably killed by car bomb
The neighborhood in Balashicha where the incident took place is known for the fact that most homes were built for soldiers and their families.
Just as the driver got into his car and wanted to leave his parking space, the BMW X3 exploded. The car was completely engulfed in flames. “The driver suffered multiple injuries and died on the spot,” said the Russian investigation team that arrived on the scene.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been officially announced, but according to several Telegram channels and war bloggers, it is Russian Lieutenant General Damir Davydov, who lives nearby. The usually well-informed Telegram channel ‘VChK-OGPU’, among others, reports this.
Davydov was head of the Main Directorate for Missiles and Artillery of the Russian Ministry of Defense and thus responsible for deliveries to the front line.
“If confirmed, it would be the fourth successful assassination attempt on such a high-ranking officer in Russia since the start of the war,” the independent Russian news site ‘Agentstvo’ said. “And this despite the tightened measures taken by the Russian Security Service (FSB) after the previous assassination attempt.”
Attack last year 350 meters away
Barely 350 meters away, Yaroslav Moskalyk, the deputy chief of the Russian General Staff, was killed in April last year. That happened after a parked car exploded near his house.
In December last year, Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov was killed in a parking lot in Moscow. And in December 2024, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov suffered the same fate from a bomb attached to a scooter.
Criminal case
Following this morning’s incident, police authorities have opened a criminal case and conducted an investigation to determine the cause of the explosion.
