In the game against SV Elversberg, Fabian Nürnberger afforded two freaks. Now the punishment for the Darmstadt is certain.
Fabian Nürnberger from the second division club Darmstadt 98 was blocked for five games after his freak out in the home game against SV Elversberg. The sports court of the German Football Association punished two assaults of the 25-year-old defensive player with the hard judgment after receiving the red card at 0: 3 in the previous week. A lock of three more games was suspended for one year.
Nuremberg first fouled Elias Baum so heavily in the game that he had to get off the pitch injured. In a subsequent pack formation, the Bulgarian international grabbed the Elversberger Maximilian Rohr on the neck and hit his face with his flat hand.
Darmstadt coach Florian Kohfeldt had subsequently condemned Nuremberg’s behavior and called “brutally stupid action”. “I never criticize players publicly, but that never should never happen to him again,” said Kohfeldt.
