Party at the Thomashuis in Ruinerwold! Because after a successful donation action, a long -awaited wish was released.
“Our wish was the purchase of a magic table. That is a projector who projects all kinds of interactive games on the table or on the ground,” explains Miriam ten Have of the Thomashuis.
The Thomashuis in Ruinerwold is one of the 119 Thomashuizen in the Netherlands. The houses are known for small-scale 24-hour care for people with disabilities. Thirty -year -old Miriam ten Have and her husband Stephan have been running the house in the Perendorp since 2021.
The arrival of the installation has been a fiery wish of resident Frank Besselink for a long time. But the installation is not cheap.
“You can buy a car for that amount,” laughs Ten Have. “It costs 15,000 euros.”
Thanks to the proceeds from their own store ‘Het Thomashuisje’, promotions on the Christmas market, gifts from companies and a successful donation campaign seemed to be in sight. “The last push came from fiber optic de Wolden,” Ten Have. “We never expected that it succeeded so quickly.”
The health care investigation of the Netherlands now hangs a month above the table in the shared living room. “An example that makes residents very calm are the virtual fish in the water. By touching the table, it seems like they can pet the fish.”
But there are also very active games where coordination and memory are trained. “That way we can also project the football game on the ground. And through the shopping game they learn to remember several things.”
It is also nice to see that the installation brings the residents into contact with each other even more. The mole game is popular among the eight residents of the Thomashuis.
“Nice the moles back the Molshoop in Meppen,” laughs Besselink. Co -resident Maarten Willemse loves the football game more. “That’s because I myself also football.”
Both residents agree on one thing: “The magic table is addictive!”
