The German women’s national soccer team will have to do without Sydney Lohmann and Lena Lattwein in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
As the German Football Association (DFB) announced, 22-year-old Lohmann from FC Bayern Munich tested positive for the corona virus. Striker Lattwein from VfL Wolfsburg is missing because of a muscular problem in her thigh, which caused her to miss the top Bundesliga game against Bayern Munich (6-0).
National coach Martin Voss-Tecklenburg nominated Ramona Petzelberger from Aston Villa and Chantal Hagel from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim as substitutes. The DFB selection will play Portugal in Bielefeld on April 9th and Serbia on April 12th in Belgrade. Germany leads Group H with 18 points ahead of Portugal (13) and Serbia (12). The World Cup will take place in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20, 2023.
