“They are bastards”, Harry Kouwenberg from the Sibeliusstraat in Tilburg does not turn his heart into a murder pit. He horrors the idea that a high -voltage station is being built right in front of his house. “I lose everything, my animals and vegetable garden.” Also other residents of the terraced houses who are still looking out on an idyllic landscape are furious.

The residents were completely attacked by the expansion of the electricity grid by network operator Tennet. They had been promised that a park would be laid in front of their door. Now it appears that there will be a high -voltage station. The rural view with vegetable gardens and grazing goats will disappear in September this year to make way for electricity cables and masts. This is necessary to maintain the energy supply.

Tineke has been living in the Sibeliusstraat in Tilburg-Noord for almost fifty years, as many people in the street. At the end of March, her vegetable garden must have been cleared up opposite her house. She has sleepless nights: “I only have AOW and breed everything in my garden. I eat for a whole year.”

The garden is also important for social contacts, says Tineke: “I am only alone and when you are busy in the garden, people have a chat, so I will be very lonely later.” According to the plans, she will soon look at a fence that comes for the high -voltage station. “So I will no longer have a view.”

Tineke understands that the expansion of the high -voltage station is necessary. “But they could have built it further backwards.”

Antoon is also completely robbed by the expansion of the high -voltage station and according to him, alternatives were not properly looked at. He says that his living enjoyment is being affected and fears a fall in value of his house. “If I could buy a house here with this knowledge at the moment, I would think twice, maybe three times.”

Marianne has also been living in Sibeliusstraaten for a long time and totally agrees with Tineke and Antoon, but, like the other residents, she also thinks that the municipality of Tilburg and Tennet had dropped and should have consulted much better. “We received a letter from Tennet that will be expanded here. While the municipality had sent a letter a few weeks earlier with the news that a great park would come here. I think it’s terrible”.
