A group of local parties, including a party in Eindhoven, formally objects to Progressive Netherlands (PRO), the new name of GroenLinks-PvdA. ProVeenendaal, together with eight other parties, has submitted an appeal to the Council of State against the approval of the name change by the Electoral Council. They find the name of the national merger party confusing.
PRO Eindhoven was founded at the end of December by 24-year-old Dick Sloots. The party did not win any seats in the municipal elections earlier this year.
In addition to ProVeenendaal and PRO Eindhoven, Pro Hengelo, Pro Duiven, PRO Scherpenzeel, Progressive Zoeterwoude, Pro Vlissingen, Pro3 and Pro also participate! Oude IJsselstreek participates in the objection. Other parties may join later.
“Local PRO/Progressief parties operate independently and independently,” ProVeenendaal writes in a press release. “They do not automatically want to be associated with a national party, regardless of ideological similarities or differences.”
