The US club are looking for reinforcements for the attacking center after seeded “nine” Cristian Arango (27) was recently sold to Mexico for one of the highest fees in the club’s history. Coach and ex-professional (including Hanover) Steven Cherundolo can only fall back on a trained center forward in the talented Nathan Ordaz (19). Aubameyang, who after his EUR 12 million move from FC Barcelona to London in the summer is usually only used as a joker and who received further competition on the offensive due to the Blues transfer offensive in winter, could remedy the situation.

The former Gabon international has made 18 appearances in all competitions, spending 849 minutes on the field and contributing three goals and one assist. Most recently, he had been removed from the squad for the Champions League and recently classified by the English newspaper “The Telegraph” as a candidate for sale – albeit for the summer. Rumors of a premature departure in the winter had recently surfaced when Aubameyang was linked with a return to Barca. In the TM rumor mill, Atlético Madrid and AC Milan are among the candidates for a commitment.

Chelsea manager Potter on Aubameyang: ‘Didn’t do anything wrong’

“He didn’t do anything wrong at all. Whatever decision is made, there will always be a debate. It was my decision, a difficult decision. I have nothing against him. I understand his disappointment, but I have a responsibility to make such decisions and communicate them to the player,” said coach Graham Potter, who mainly relies on German international Kai Havertz (23) in the center of the attack.

Aubameyang, whose contract with Chelsea runs until 2024, is reportedly open to a move to MLS in general and LAFC in particular. Should the attacker actually be drawn to North America, he would not be active in one of the five top leagues in Europe for the first time in his career.
