Lloyd will run its own retail business in Denmark

The German shoe retailer Lloyd Shoes GmbH will manage its retail activities in Denmark itself in future. The concept store in Copenhagen and the brand’s Danish online shop were previously operated by local partner ATC Footwear.

Last year, the Sulingen-based company took over its previously partner-run stores in the Baltic States and in the Austrian capital, Vienna. “With the acquisitions mentioned, Lloyd now has 14 subsidiaries and is responsible for 35 concept stores on its own,” the company announced on Friday. The strategic goal of these acquisitions is to “further strengthen the Lloyd brand and underline its premium claim”.

Managing Director Andreas Schaller commented on the latest transaction: “We are very pleased about the takeover of the Danish B2C activities and would like to thank our long-standing partner ATC and in particular Christian Dawe for the excellent cooperation in recent years,” he said in a statement. “Scandinavia has always been a very important market region for us, and in Denmark in particular we can build on very good business development.”

The company said it intends to continue employing “the entire team” in Denmark after the acquisition. “All of our new employees are highly motivated and want to achieve even more in the future,” stressed Schaller.
