Liverpool (dpa) – Liverpool FC with coach Jürgen Klopp is again very close to leaders Manchester City in the English football championship.
The Reds won their catch-up game on Matchday 19 against Leeds United 6-0 (3-0) and reduced the gap to the Cityzens to three points. At the beginning of April, both top teams meet in a direct duel. At the beginning of the year, Liverpool were eleven points behind Man City.
Star striker Mohamed Salah (15th minute) gave Liverpool an early lead with a converted hand penalty. Former Bundesliga professional Joel Matip increased (30th), before Salah (35th) – this time with a penalty – was successful again. In the second half, Africa Cup of Nations winner Sadio Mané (80’/90′) and Virgil van Dijk (90’+3′) scored the final score in Liverpool’s sixth league win in a row.
