The still life was clear when we left for the weekend.

Both Manchester City and Liverpool had snapped victories apart from their mutual draw. Every league match was like a cup final, and the team that blasted first would give an advantage in the championship battle.

It happened on Saturday. Liverpool were unable to beat Tottenham at their own home field, allowing City to escape a three-point run away.

City will play a round of their own match on Sunday, when it will face Newcastle at home in Etihad.

Liverpool’s legs weighed in on the Champions League semi-final earlier this week as the team’s 12-match winning streak on Anfield Road ended with a visit to Tottenham.

Much worse was on offer because Son Heung-min took the guests to the lead at the beginning of the second episode. Luis Díaz saved even one point for the Reds, but Trent Alexander-Arnoldin the reaction to the final whistle told me all the essentials about the loss of points.

The kit fell to his knees as he realized the league championship could just slip out of Liverpool’s hands. The team rose to the top of the league due to their goal difference, but it’s hard to believe that Newcastle would deflect the match to a less-playing City home loss in these circumstances.

The story continues after the video.

– I am really satisfied with the performance and proud of the mental strength we showed against a really strong team. I said before the match that we have to win and they just have to wait for the counter-attack places, Pool Manager Jürgen Klopp explained to BT Sport.

– The result is not what we wanted.

However, Klopp did not want to give up the championship yet.

– It was always clear that something like this could happen. There are still games left and we just have to keep going.
