Liverpool beat Manchester United 4-0

In Liverpool, the signs are still pointing to the championship: Manchester United could not break the home strength of the Klopp team either and conceded four goals at Anfield.

Liverpool FC have continued their impressive home run in the Premier League and cemented their title hopes. Coach Jürgen Klopp’s team won 4-0 (2-0) after a furious performance against arch-rivals Manchester United on Tuesday evening and temporarily took the lead in England’s elite soccer league.

Luis Diaz (5th minute), double scorer Mohamed Salah (22nd/85th) and Sadio Mané (68th) scored for the Reds, who still have chances of four season titles – the quadruple. The Klopp team even won the first leg 5-0. The Reds have been unbeaten in home league games since March 2021.

However, Manchester United was not able to field their best under Ralf Rangnick at Anfield. Edinson Cavani, Scott McTominay, Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane and Fred didn’t even travel to Liverpool. Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was not on the pitch either.

Moving action for Ronaldo

The fans in the stadium showed their condolences to the Portuguese with a touching action in the 7th minute: They applauded for 60 seconds and thus expressed their support for Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez after their heavy blow of fate. The 37-year-old Ronaldo mourns the loss of their son with his partner.

The wording in a statement earlier this week suggested that he did not survive a twin birth. “Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to have some hope and cheerfulness in this moment,” it said.

The fan action for Man United pro Ronaldo in the 7th minute alludes to the fact that the superstar has worn the shirt number 7 in the club and in the national team for years. All Liverpool and Manchester professionals wore black armbands.
