Russia claims to be ‘immune’ to Western sanctions
The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned US sanctions on oil companies Lukoil and Rosneft on Thursday. At the same time, the ministry maintains that the announced measures will have no effect.
“We consider this measure to be absolutely counterproductive,” said Maria Zacharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry. “Our country has developed strong immunity against Western restrictions and will confidently continue to develop its economic potential, including in the field of energy.”
“We will not experience any particular problems due to the decision of the (US) Treasury Department,” it said.
