1. FC Union Berlin wants to get in the mood for the dazzling champions duel with Real Madrid with a win in the Bundesliga against VfL Wolfsburg.
Four days before the highlight game against the Spaniards, the Köpenickers have to play against Lower Saxony, who are tied on points, this Saturday (3:30 p.m./Sky).
“We tried to prepare the team so that they could keep their focus,” reported coach Urs Fischer. So far, the capital club has never been able to win against Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.
Kevin Volland is suspended after his red card from last matchday. New signing and ex-Herthan player Lucas Tousart could celebrate his debut in the Union midfield. Fischer called the Frenchman, who was recently missing due to injury, “an alternative for the squad”. For star transfer Leonardo Bonucci, however, a deployment probably comes too early.
