Bye and see you soon!

The MotoGP circus says goodbye to the summer break with an incredibly exciting race. The British Grand Prix continues in five weeks. We’ll be there live again and wish you a nice time until then. See you soon!

14:46

Aleix Espargaro is man of the race

The craziest scene happened behind it. In the last two corners, Aleix Espargaro attacks Jack Miller and Brad Binder in one corner. He sees the gap, stabs in and can hold the ideal line. That puts him fourth and he goes into the summer break in second, 21 points behind Quartararo. Aleix Espargaro was the man of the race. If Quartararo hadn’t cleared him early on, it might even have been enough for a win.

14:44

the podium

Behind him, Marco Bezzecchi scores his best MotoGP finish. He is celebrating second place and his pit crew is also overjoyed. Maverick Vinales is also more than satisfied with Sunday’s race. The Spaniard takes a podium finish for the first time with the Aprilia.

26

14:42

Bagnaia wins!

Francesco Bagnaia only crosses the finish line on the rear wheel. Victory will be balm for the Italian after he still can’t understand his fall from last weekend. So he reported back perfectly and says goodbye to the summer break with a good feeling.

25

14:39

Miller doesn’t reward himself

Wobble at Jack Miller! Miller stabs at Vinales, but gets problems with his Ducati and immediately loses the place due to a wobble. As a result, the gap to Vinales is greater again and he has to fight with Binder, who is now breathing down Miller’s neck. Aleix Espargaro is also still on the attack. He was able to close the gap of two seconds on Martin.

25

14:38

Hot fight for third place

Miller can’t get past Vinales on the start-finish straight, but he shows himself every now and then and puts the car in front of him under extreme pressure.

23

14:33

Who goes on the podium?

It looks clear from the front. If Bagnaia doesn’t make a driving mistake, he will finish this race as a winner. Marco Bezzecchi, driving for Valentino Rossi’s team, is also in second place with a solid lead. However, Maverick Vinales has Miller glued directly to his rear wheel, who wants to start the next “Jackattack”.

21

14:31

Bagnaia with a perfect race

A lot has happened on the track, so it’s worth looking ahead. Francesco Bagnaia continues to lead the race. He has a comfortable lead over Marco Bezzecchi of just over two seconds. New third is Maverick Vinales, who has quietly and secretly pushed his way forward. But he has to be careful at the back as Jack Miller loves the slightly wet conditions and snatches fourth place from Binder.

20

14:30

Raul Fernandez out

Raul Fernandez pits but he can’t trade his bike. It seems he got the arm pump. He can hardly move his right hand and ends the race prematurely.

19

14:28

No swap yet

Aleix Espargaro is not bothered by the rain at all at the moment. After the start-finish straight, he also grabs Miguel Oliveira and moves up to seventh place. So far, no driver has exchanged his work equipment.

18

14:27

White flag

A lap later the white flag is out. This means that the riders can now decide for themselves if and when they can come into the pits and switch to their second bike. This is provided with the rain tuning and is ready for any pilot.

17

14:26

First raindrops

It starts to dribble! It starts to rain in the pit lane and the first flags, in this case the white and red flag, are waved as a warning to the drivers. But they are not yet allowed to exchange their bikes. This requires the white flag. The lap times are now down by half a second.

16

14:24

Espargaro the fastest man

Aleix Espargaro really turns it up. He sets two fastest race laps in a row and improves the lap time to a 1:32.500. Within one lap he passes Zarco and Joan Mir as if they weren’t even on the track.

15

14:22

Nakagami with penalty

Takaaki Nakagami went over the barrier one too many times and was hit with a long lap penalty. The Honda rider is showing a good race. But he cannot keep seventh place behind Miller with the penalty.

13.

14:20

The end for Quartararo

Fabio Quartararo falls a second time! It hits him again at Turn 5. This time his Yamaha highsides him and the Frenchman lands on his left hip. He gets up alone with a pained face, but he doesn’t seem to be completely unharmed. What a pitch-black Sunday for the world champion.

12.

14:17

A. Espargaro practices damage control

Aleix Espargaro is now clearing the field from behind. In the meantime he has fought his way up to twelfth place, leaving behind Fabio Di Giannantonio, Alex Rins and Alex Márquez.

10

14:16

Quartararo visits his box

Fabio Quartararo makes a stop in the pits. He is not allowed to change his motorcycle. After a brief discussion with his team, he drives out again to be able to attack again in the event of a possible rain shower.

9.

14:15

Darryn Binder in the gravel bed

Now Darryn Binder gets it too. Brad Binder’s brother crashes his bike badly when it overturns in the gravel. But Binder remains unhurt.

8th.

14:13

Morbidelli imitates Quartararo

Franco Morbidelli ended his poor weekend with a fall. Like his teammate, his bike slipped at Turn 5 and Morbidelli landed in the gravel.

8th.

14:12

Bagnaia still in the lead

Meanwhile, Francesco Bagnaia drives a confident race in front. The Italian is a second ahead of new second-placed Marco Bezzecchi, who has benefited from Quartararo’s track. Jorge Martin finds himself in third position.

7.

14:10

Yamaha missing parts

Quartararo is missing the left wing and other parts that damage its aerodynamics. He won’t be able to do much with that and has to hope for possible rain so that he can swap his bike.

5.

14:07

Fall of Quartararo

That does not exist! Fabio Quartararo wants to pass Espargaro in Turn 5, attacks too early and then slides away. He clears Aleix Espargaro, who somehow manages to stay on the bike. Nevertheless, the Spaniard loses a lot of places and joins up again in 15th place. Quartararo somehow manages to get his Yamaha going and resumes the race in last place. The incident is under observation by the race control.

4.

14:06

Quartararo sets fastest race lap

Now the world champion turns up the heat. Fabio Quartararo sets the fastest race lap with a 1:32.603 and sits directly on the rear wheel of Aleix Espargaro. When is the attack coming?

3.

14:04

Bezzecchi on the rise

Marco Bezzecchi shows strong first laps and is able to pass Jorge Martin in turn one. The gap to Fabio Quartararo in front of him is now 0.6 seconds.

2.

14:03

Miller with a long lap penalty

Bagnaia’s teammate Jack Miller has yet to complete a long lap penalty from practice. There was a little disagreement with Maverick Vinales that earned Miller that penalty. Miller has to complete the penalty within the first three laps.

2.

14:02

Espargaro second

Aleix Espargaro is also one of the winners of the launch. The Aprilia driver can move up to second place and make up three places. Bagnaia can open a small gap of 0.6 seconds between himself and his pursuers.

1.

14:02

Bagnaia wins the start

The traffic light is off and Francesco Bagnaia shoots forward. Fabio Quartataro has a bit of excess speed, tries to get past the Italian and has to go a little far. As a result, he loses two places, but can immediately pass Jorge Martin.

13:59

Warm up lap

The pilots are ready and the warm-up lap begins. Rain is forecast for 2:30 p.m. It remains exciting whether there will be a flag-to-flag race. But for now, the start will be important. Who will have the best start and which driver will lead into the first corner?

13:52

The race course

26 laps await the MotoGP riders on the TT Circuit in Assen. A lap is a good 4.5 kilometers long and has the shortest straight on the racing calendar. This could be a disadvantage for the Ducati riders who cannot fully exploit their high speed. Last year’s winner was Fabio Quartararo, who is also starting promising from the front row today.

1:30 p.m

Honda at rock bottom

The race will take place without Pol Espargaro recovering from a crash from last weekend’s race. During a highside, he bruised his ribs so badly that he can’t even stand up right now. In addition, the Honda is not competitive. The team is last in the team standings and without their “superstar” Marc Márquez, things are looking bleak at the moment. Alex Márquez, Marc Márquez’s brother, will leave the Honda customer team for Gresini Racing at the end of the season.

13:25

Miller hopes for rain

Behind them, too, are three hot candidates for a podium place: Marco Bezzecchi, Aleix Espargaro and Jack Miller. Jack Miller in particular could benefit from the weather conditions in Assen. From 2 p.m. rain clouds are supposed to gather, so that a flag-to-flag race could possibly be pending. The Ducati rider is a bank when the track gets wet.

13:15

Strong front row

The front row of the grid has it all this weekend. Francesco Bagnaia, who threw away his bike on the third lap of the German Grand Prix, is on course to make amends. The Italian starts from pole position. Next to him is current Championship leader and World Champion Fabio Quartararo, who is on course to defend his title. With 172 World Cup points, he has the same number of points as last year. The front row is completed by the Spaniard Jorge Martin, who is on the way up again after a short slump and a minor operation.

Warm welcome!

Motorcycling mecca Assen welcomes MotoGP this weekend for the final race before the summer break. It starts at 2:00 p.m.!
