No match on grass yet
For the two finalists it is the first duel against each other on grass. In 2019, Tiafoe kicked the German out of the tournament on hard court in Antwerp 6:3, 6:4. A year later, Struff got revenge at the French Open, where he visibly had to stretch over five sets. In the end, the 33-year-old made it through to the second round of the Grand Slam with a 3:6, 7:6, 6:3, 6:7 and 6:3.

Tiafoe with a good debut in Stuttgart
The American Frances Tiafoe is serving in Stuttgart for the first time this year – the 25-year-old seems to like the grass of the Boss Open particularly well, as it is his first time in the final on grass. A tournament win in the world rankings would also mean a breakthrough for Tiafoe, because if he were successful, the points would catapult him into the top 10 for the first time. His way to the final led via Lehecka, Musetti and the Fucsovics, with the tie-break against the Hungarian in the semi-finals taking on almost dramatic proportions at 13:11.

Struff could celebrate his first ATP title
Jan-Lennard Struff has improved steadily in recent weeks and will move up to at least 21st place in the world rankings thanks to his entry into the final. For the Warsteiner it is the third final on the ATP tour: In Munich and Madrid it was not enough for the title and therefore a success in today’s final would be tantamount to the first tournament victory for Struff! At the same time he would even reach the top 20 and crack his best position again. In Stuttgart, the 33-year-old prevailed against Zhang, Paul, Gasquet and yesterday in the semi-final against Hurkacz. Struff even turned the match against the Pole after losing a set – it was his first all week.
