Qualifiers semi-finals
With Aslan Karatsev and Jan-Lennard Struff, two players made it into the semifinals that no one had on their list. Both played through the qualification in Madrid and even met there in the final. Karatsev clearly prevailed against the German with 6:4 and 6:2. The Warsteiner benefted from the lucky loser regulation and still made it into the main round. A week ago, neither of them would have thought that there would be such a quick chance of a re-match.
