Third conclusion:
ERC Ingolstadt leads 2-1 after 20 minutes in game six against EHC Munich. It was fast-paced and, according to the series, also high in goals, but so far both teams have limited themselves to their sporting performance and completely avoided the penalty box. Early in the game, it was striker Taro Hirose who accepted a gift from goalie Brett Brochu. The Canadian came out of his goal but couldn’t clear the puck. Instead, Hirose blocked the shot and used the mistake to slot into the empty goal from a tight angle. The Schanzer then needed a few minutes to recover from the cold shower, but were ultimately the more active team. It was then double packer Philipp Krauss who secured the lead for his team: first he deflected a shot from Hüttl, then the striker was forgotten in the slot without a bell and was able to crown the forechecking of his teammates with a goal. As of now there would be a seventh game on Easter Monday, there is still a lot of excitement here. See you in the second section!

2:36 p.m
Not much happens before the break; lots of interruptions due to icing take away the flow of the game. Then Pokka tries again with a hard shot on the right side of the boards, but it only lands on the side netting.

2:34 p.m
Spurred on by this, the guests immediately follow up, not wanting to let it slide. The forward move is straightforward with deep passes. Chris DeSousa goes into the fast break and puts the wrist shot at an uncomfortable height for keeper Brett Brochu, but the Canadian is distinguished by a strong reflex with his catching hand.

2:30 p.m

Goal for ERC Ingolstadt, 2-1 by Philipp Krauß
Change of leadership! As they move forward, the Munich team loses the target on the right side of the boards. Johannes Krauss and Daniel Pietta are going strong there, the play equipment claims for itself. The whole of Munich is just looking at the puck, nobody has Philipp Krauß on their radar. With a targeted pass into the slot, Pietta then serves Krauss, who, completely oblivious, accepts the gift and pulls the hard rubber over Bibeau’s shoulder.

2:30 p.m
Chaos in front of Antoine Bibeau! With a strong solo, Alex Breton sets off from his own third, goes around two opponents and then fires the disc through Ryan Murphy’s legs. Goalie Antoine Bibeau sees the shot late behind the block and has to let it clap forward, but is subsequently able to collect the rebound.

14:28
The equalizer was definitely good for the match: the visitors’ better start was now followed by a very interesting phase that was balanced on both sides. There are always useful shots from a distance, but Preto’s shot, for example, doesn’t find Johannes Krauss in front of the slot.
14′
2:25 p.m
There has never been a 1-1 score in this series; in the previous five games, one team has always taken at least a 2-0 lead. So, as expected, the match today writes its own story, it remains extremely even.

14:22

Goal for ERC Ingolstadt, 1:1 by Philipp Krauß
So far, the Ingolstadt team has only had four shots on goal, while the Munich team has only had three shots towards the goal. But sometimes these few chances are enough; the slot is well occupied. On the right of the blue line, Hüttl takes a powerful shot on goal, Krauss deflects the puck decisively and directs the puck past Antoine Bibeau on the left. The goal also stands up to the video evidence; there was no goalkeeper interference.
13′
14:21
Then comes the first power break and with it another interruption after more than five minutes. No team really has control of the game, it’s always coast to coast, including some dangerous losses of targets. Apart from the 1-0 win, both teams are also very compact defensively and don’t allow much high percentage play.
12′
2:20 p.m
After conceding an early goal, the Ingolstadt team are now the more active team, repeatedly coming dangerously close to the goal to gain possession of the puck through high forechecking. However, the Munich team still have the better chances, as they let off a shot every now and then without penalty and with a lot of flow in the game back and forth.
10′
2:17 p.m
While the guests combine with short, quick passes into the slot, the home team advances into the final third with a lot of momentum. Again it is Alex Breton who is able to intercept a pass there, but his shot is blocked in the slot.
8′
2:15 p.m
Nasty shot from Alex Breton! On the left side of the blue line, the defender takes heart and takes a powerful shot at the box. Antoine Bibeau has to stretch a lot on the line, but puts the puck just past the post. This means that Breton has not yet been able to build on the hat trick from the last home game.
7′
2:14 p.m
The Schanzer now need to regroup and quickly shake the cold shower out of their heads. Coach Mark French’s men are now venturing forward more and more; it is Daniel Pietta’s line that repeatedly causes chaos in the slot. A shot from Hüttl and a shot from Philipp Krauß make the Black team dangerous twice, but Antoine Bibeau is at his post.
5′
14:11
That was a really big blunder at the start for Brett Brochu, and we now have to recover from that. This immediately increases the Schanzer’s rucksack; the first goal left its mark on both teams. The people of Munich are even more aggressive, the hosts seem intimidated.

2:08 p.m

Goal for EHC Munich, 0:1 by Taro Hirose
There’s the first hit! Taro Hirose scores his third playoff goal, so the chances of reaching the semi-finals are now really good. From the face-off in the neutral zone, the puck goes deep into the Ingolstadt zone, goalie Brett Brochu comes out of his goal but cannot clear the puck. Hirose blocks the attempt to clear the ball and pushes the gift with a bow into the mesh from the left side.
4′
2:06 p.m
The Munich team presses very early and usually attacks the first build-up pass in the Schanzer’s own third. Veit Oswald delivers the first good shot towards the goal, skating from the right boards to the central position. But the forearm shot goes just over the crossbar.
3′
2:04 p.m
Until now, it was always the first goal scored that was decisive in winning the game. So both teams should be eager to get into the game well from the start. It’s a hectic start with a high forecheck, but no team is really dangerous in the slot yet.
2′
2:03 p.m
The home team made another switch between the posts, Mark French relied on goalie Brett Brochu in goal and instead left veteran Devin Williams on the bench. For the guests, keeper Antoine Bibeau starts again in the box.

Here we go, the sixth duel between Ingolstadt and Munich has begun!
13:54
The winning team had at least five goals in every game, and on the heels of their goal record, a continuation of this series would not be unlikely today. This was recently favored by an emotional and robust pace on the ice, which reached its climax in the fourth game: Fabio Wagner, away from the puck, delivered an extremely hard check with his elbow against the neck of Edwin Tropmann, the Ingolstadt player is now said to have been released from the hospital. Two days ago, the Südschlager took some time to get going and was noticeably more peaceful, but then a fair derby mentality quickly returned in the second half. Here the Munich team kept the upper hand and deservedly came out on top in an exciting game. Which actors are becoming celebrated heroes today and are not able to perform at the top level today?
13:46
The men from the Bavarian capital have already scored a whopping 24 goals in the playoffs, but the Ingolstadt team can definitely keep up with 19 goals. Of course, on the one hand, this is probably due to the individual class of both offensive teams, but on the other hand, there may also be a certain defensive problem on both sides. It is also noticeable that both teams took a lot of penalties in the games, which of course also promotes a certain flood of goals. As expected, it would be the ERC’s turn again today with a strong performance, including many goals. If the Schanzer can use their home advantage, they would force a seventh game on Easter Monday in Munich. On the other hand, the EHC can top it off with a win today. The Adler Mannheim are already waiting in the semi-finals, so the next competitor is already in the starting blocks.
13:38
Munich against Ingolstadt – It is the duel of the fourth-placed team in the main round against the fifth-placed team. With 100 and 94 points respectively, both teams played a strong series and were able to plan for the playoffs early on. After five games, the Munich team now has the first match point for the semi-finals, only one win is missing to advance in the best-of-seven mode. It is one of the highest-scoring playoff series of all time, and this quarterfinal still has a chance of breaking this record: there are only eleven goals left with possibly two games left. Under certain circumstances, the duel between Ingolstadt and Munich will last the full distance of seven games, but that would require a home win for the Schanzer today.
1:30 p.m
Hello and welcome to the ice hockey Bundesliga playoffs! In the sixth game of the quarter-final series, Ingolstadt enjoys home advantage against Munich, the kick-off face-off takes place at 2 p.m. in the Saturn Arena!
