Kick-off of the 2nd half

45.+3

19:54

Half-time conclusion:
Borussia Dortmund II deservedly leads 1-0 at the break against MSV Duisburg. And there could have been a better lead if the BVB youngsters had made better use of their numerous top opportunities. The Zebras repeatedly let Dortmund storm in front of their own goal through simple positional or passing errors and were lucky that their keeper Müller was also having a good day today. BVB dominated the game for long stretches of the first half, while Duisburg mostly lurked on the counterattack.

45.+3

7:49 p.m

End of 1st half

45.+2

7:47 p.m

Yellow card for Marvin Senger (MSV Duisburg)

A high ball and BVB are through! Senger can only stop Besong on the halfway line with a foul and is lucky that his colleague Mai was still running with him, otherwise it would have been a different card color.

45.+1

7:47 p.m

Lotka has to go there! A high cross from the right half of the field drops dangerously to the level of the penalty spot, but the keeper confidently punches the ball away.

7:45 p.m

Official added time (minutes): 3

44.

7:45 p.m

Senger with a catastrophic cross pass just before his own 16! The defender plays the ball directly into Eberwein’s feet, who moves into the penalty area and then tries to lift the ball over goalkeeper Müller. But the ball goes very delicately over the crossbar and lands on the goal net.

43.

19:43

Paul-Philipp Besong

Yellow card for Paul-Philipp Besong (Borussia Dortmund II)

Besong and Senger collide shortly in front of the MSV penalty area, so Besong has to be treated afterwards.

40.

19:42

Almost the happy compensation! Marvin Senger’s cross from the left in the opponent’s 16 is deflected dangerously onto the goalkeeper’s short corner. But keeper Marcel Lotka is there and directs the ball around the post.

39.

7:40 p.m

Hendry Blank

Yellow card for Hendry Blank (Borussia Dortmund II)

The central defender pulls Ekene to the ground in a running duel in his own half and is also warned.

38.

7:39 p.m

Stierlin moves into the BVB penalty area from half-right and tries to play through several opponents, but only gets a corner. This one isn’t dangerous either.

36.

7:38 p.m

Due to the Zebras’ many careless ball losses and the resulting opportunities for Dortmund, the hosts increasingly deserved the lead.

34.

7:36 p.m

And again Pohlmann’s free kick from a promising position lands in the wall.

33.

19:34

Niclas Stierlin

Yellow card for Niclas Stierlin (MSV Duisburg)

As in the initial phase, there was a foul by a Duisburg player just in front of their own penalty area line in a central position. Stierlin lays Pohlmann and sees yellow.

32.

19:33

Mai clears the first corner for the BVB amateurs. Pohlmann’s cross is not dangerous.

30.

19:32

Vincent Müller saves his team from conceding the second goal! Besong gets through to the center circle relatively easily and then puts the ball through brilliantly into the path of Hettwer, who is free through. He then tries to lift the ball over the storming keeper Müller, but the goalkeeper quickly parries.

28.

19:28

Ekene, who works a lot on his right side today, takes the next corner for his team in the 16′. Köther’s cross drops dangerously into the six-yard box, where goalkeeper Lotka gets his fists on the ball and clears it.

26.

19:26

At least MSV is now trying to fight its way forward somehow and gets a corner. Köther brings it in, but the home team can defend it.

23.

19:24

Although there is little happening on the pitch at the moment, there is even more going on in the stands. Many BVB fans are supporting their youngsters today against MSV and their equally impressive supporters.

20.

19:22

So far, BVB has hardly had any problems defensively with the still inconspicuous guests.

17.

7:18 p.m

The MSV defense seemed a bit unsettled in several situations. Passes often end up with the opponent, who can then quickly run towards their own goal with their fast players.

14.

19:14

Paul-Philipp Besong

Tooor for Borussia Dortmund II, 1-0 by Paul-Philipp Besong

The hosts take the lead! Besong splashes into the center between a risky pass from Senger and can then run freely towards the goal. Keeper Müller is initially able to parry the striker’s shot, but Hettwer sharpens it again and leverages it onto the goal. In the end, Besong just has to head the ball over the line.

13.

19:13

In contrast to MSV, Dortmund attack the guests very high and try to force them to make mistakes early on. But so far the Duisburg defense is standing.

9.

7:10 p.m

BVB had a lot of possession in the first few minutes, but MSV also got off to a good start in this game and is waiting for a counterattack.

6.

7:07 p.m

Almost the first really good chance for MSV! Ekene really picks up the pace on the right and then passes into the back area, where Castaneda passes it on to Jander, whose shot is decisively blocked.

5.

7:06 p.m

Pohlmann takes the subsequent free kick and hits it into the wall from a central position.

4.

7:03 p.m

Sebastian Mai

Yellow card for Sebastian Mai (MSV Duisburg)

Things are getting tricky for MSV! Eberwein ties the ball to the opposing 16 and heads it to Besong, who is placed just in front of Mai’s 16 line.

1.

7:00 p.m

Let’s start at the Rote Erde Stadium!

18:51

MSV coach Vural also changes in the English week and replaces Pascal Köpke with the young Santiago Castaneda.

6:40 p.m

In terms of personnel, BVB made two starting eleven changes compared to the win against Verl: Hendry Blank and Ayman Azhil played instead of Bjarne Pudel and Franz Roggow.

18:34

The pressure in this game is clearly on the guests from Duisburg, who are bottom of the table with just three points and therefore had to experience their worst start to the season in the club’s history. Especially after the 2-0 defeat at Viktoria Köln last Saturday, the Zebras’ nerves are on edge. Four bankruptcies in a row and a lot of pressure from those around them who actually had completely different goals for this season – these are difficult circumstances that former U19 coach Engin Vural now has to deal with.

18:28

In the Verl game alone, the BVB youngsters scored as many goals as in the first six games combined. Remarkably, they managed to collect a whopping eleven points with just six goals scored. Their trump card was often their strong defense.

18:13

A fifth place in the table is Dortmund’s strong starting point before their fourth home game this season. After two narrow victories in a row against Viktoria Köln and last weekend against SC Verl, the trend for coach Jan Zimmermann’s team is clearly upwards again. They were very lucky, especially against Verler, because the striker Mittelstädt, who had replaced the injured goalkeeper Unbehaun, was unable to hold on to the ball and Justin Butler was able to score the lucky punch in stoppage time to make it 3-2.

6:06 p.m

Actually, this game shouldn’t take place until Tuesday or Wednesday next week, when the remaining third league teams play the 9th matchday. But since BVB’s first team is already playing at home against AC Milan next Wednesday, this game had to be brought forward a week for organizational reasons.

17:53

Have a nice good evening and welcome to the early game of the 9th matchday of the 3rd league! Borussia Dortmund II welcomes bottom-placed MSV Duisburg at home. It starts at 7:00 p.m.!
