The Scot plays a great set here, with Krčmar barely keeping up. He scores fantastically and has now increased his average to almost 92 points. Krčmar stays consistently at 94 and maintains his level.

In this set the Scot has played a 105 average so far and is now throwing his fourth 180. With 41 remaining he plays the S9 and throws two darts past the double. He then missed three darts to win the set, but Krčmar couldn’t capitalize on the mistake. In the end he gets the set via the D2.

Anderson has a finish in Krčmar’s first leg, the 132. He hits the single bull, the T19 and narrowly misses the bullseye. Anderson checks the 25 over the S9 and D8 with the first dart.

The pace of the game is high and both have now arrived in the match. Krčmar is first in the finish area and has 78 remaining and Anderson is waiting at 70. Krčmar misses and the Scot hits the T18 and equalizes with the second dart on the D8.

Anderson starts with a 180 and attacks the Croat’s leg. He follows up with a 92 and Krčmar can’t keep up in this leg. Anderson faces 104 and hits the T7, S17 and S10 for 56 remaining. The Scot gets the re-break with the second dart on tops.

Again Anderson starts with the maximum and Krčmar can’t keep up, but is first on a finish. But the 167 is too much for the Croatian. With 124 remaining, Anderson missed a dart on the bullseye and Krčmar then took the leg for a 2-1 lead.

Anderson opens the match with a 55 and the Croatian answers with an 81. Neither of them comes in well and follows up with a 60. But Krčmar does better afterwards and throws a 140. That’s why Krčmar is first in the finish area and is on 120 and Anderson on 167. He can’t clear the Shanghai finish and the Scot fails on 167. Krčmar gets the break with the second dart on double.

The Flying Scotsman is convincing

Gary Anderson was in excellent form in his first match of the tournament. He gave Simon Whitlock no chance and beat the Australian 3-0. With an average of 98 points per shot and a checkout rate of 50 percent, he impressed across the board and confirmed the form he had already had all year. The Scot had the highest annual average of all professionals with 98.71.

Strong Krčmar

In his first match, Krčmar, who is currently 50th in the world in the live ranking, defeated the Englishman Keegan Brown 3-1 and played an average of 91 points. In his second match, “The Biggest” increased to 97 points and had a double rate of 55 percent. He pulled off a surprise when he knocked seeded Dirk van Duijvenbode out of the tournament 3-1.
