Live NH Sport: Telstar wants to win against TOP Oss in much-discussed rainbow shirts

Once again Telstar plays a match against a direct competitor for the bottom spot in the first division. TOP Oss is visiting Velsen-Zuid tonight. Both clubs have seven points after eleven games and are only ahead of Jong Ajax (six points). You can follow the match live on NH Radio from 7 p.m.

Telstar had a restless preparation for this cellar cracker. The White Lions play in specially designed rainbow shirts with which the football club wants to convey that everyone is equal. Under the slogan Telstar All Together, everyone is welcome in Velsen-Zuid, regardless of origin, sexual orientation, religion or whatever.

However, four players from coach Mike Snoei’s selection indicated that they would not wear the rainbow shirt. Club top scorer Zakaria Eddahchouri is among them. Snoei responded yesterday afternoon in front of the NH Sport camera to the national commotion that has arisen about this.

The John Blankenstein Foundation named the choice of the four players “ridiculous”. You will hear from reporters Erik-Jan Brinkman and Frank van der Meijden to what extent the discussion and the absence of the quartet of players influences the course of the match.

Good statistics

Although past figures offer no guarantee of a good result, Telstar can provide good statistics: since 2013, TOP Oss has not lost at home (5x wins, 4x draws). Last season, Glynor Plet became the match winner with the only goal of the match in the 90th minute.
