Recommendations of the Editorial team
The Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett is coming to Germany. In October she will play two shows in Berlin and Cologne. ROLLING STONE presents.
One of the most distinctive voices in the indie rock scene
The Australian is one of the most famous voices in the indie rock scene. She initially aspired to a career as a tennis player, studied photography and played in various bands as a guitarist. Eventually she devoted herself to her own projects and songs.
And with success: she first released two much-discussed EPs. Her debut album “Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit” was released in 2015. The record reached number four on the Australian charts and earned her a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.
Social criticism and introspection
Her nonchalant, socially critical lyrics are celebrated – whether politically charged as in “Tell Me How You Really Feel” (2018) or introspective as in “Things Take Time, Take Time” (2021). The singer knows how to process a wide variety of topics into music.
New album “Creature of Habit”
Her latest album “Creature of Habit” was released on March 27, 2026: sharp, pointed lyrics about optimism and life. The new release shows once again that Courtney Barnett is an impressive songwriter.
Experienced live artist
She has also been tried and tested live – whether at festivals like Coachella or Glastonbury or as support for The Rolling Stones. The stage is hers.
Live in Germany
In the fall, Courtney Barnett will play two live shows in Germany:
- October 5, 2026 – Berlin, Huxley’s New World, 8 p.m
- October 6, 2026 – Cologne, Stollwerck Community Center, 9 p.m
Advance sales start on Friday, April 10th at 10 a.m. via Eventim.de.
