LIVE Desi Bouterse passed away | Surinamese government confirms death, hearse arrived in Paramaribo

Former Surinamese president Desi Bouterse has died after a short illness. The Surinamese government confirms this. Bouterse had been untraceable since January 2024, after he was sentenced to twenty years in prison in December 2023 after a years-long trial for his part in the December murders of 1982.
