Asian scholarships in the minus
The Asian scholarships are predominantly lower after new import duties announced by US President Donald Trump. From 1 October a rate of 100 percent applies to all brand medicines and patented pharmaceutical products, unless producers are building a factory in the US. That immediately affects the pharmaceutical sector: in Tokyo, among other things Daiichi Sankyo and Chuga Pharmaceutical with more than 2 to 3 percent, while Sumitomo Pharma More than 5 percent loses.
In the wider market, the Nikkei 0.5 percent lower at 45,530 points. There are among the strongest risers Japan Steel Works (+3.9 percent), Fujifilm (+3.3 percent) and Recruit Holdings (+3.2 percent). Real estate and construction companies such as Tokyo Tatemono, Taisei and Mitsubishi Estate benefit from the expectation that lower inflation in Tokyo (2.5 percent against an expected 2.8 percent) Bank of Japan gives room to maintain the wide policy for longer.
The Seng falls 0.7 percent. The stock market Shanghai Light falls back with 0.2 percent light. The Kospi in Seoul is under strong pressure with a loss of 2.7 percent.
