A-Ha released their new single You Have What It Takes on Friday (September 16th). The song serves as a prelude to their forthcoming album, True North, out October 21. Parallel to the album release, the band is also presenting the film of the same name, “True North”.

Keyboardist Magne Furoholmen: “We live in increasingly confusing and volatile times. In doing so, we often forget to express certain things adequately – to each other, to our children, to our loved ones, to our friends and to the rising generation”.

The new record is her first collection of new songs since “Cast in Steel” (2015). “First we had the idea of recording a studio session live. Then we wanted to film a studio session. The whole thing then developed into a production with the Norwegian orchestra, the Arctic Philharmonic, with whom we worked,” says guitarist Paul Waaktaar-Savoy.

The accompanying film, directed by Stian Andersen, shows the group recording the tracks in Bodø, Norway in 2021 – including with the orchestra. In addition, life in the north is shown in recurring scenes. “True North is a personal letter from A-Ha from the Arctic Circle, a poem from the far north of Norway with new music,” Furoholmen explained. The work can currently be seen in selected cinemas.

The album “True North” will be released on CD, recycled vinyl and as a limited deluxe edition, in which the film is included on CD and in the form of a USB card.
