“Broken heart”: Ski ace reports after operation

Winter athlete Lisa Grill is struggling again with a serious injury. Now she has turned to the public.
The Austrian ski racer Lisa Grill has come forward with an emotional message. “A broken heart, a broken leg, two operations and two weeks later I’m finally back home,” the 24-year-old wrote on Instagram. Grill broke his tibia and fibula during training at the end of December.
“I never thought this would happen again and frankly I don’t know what else to say,” she continued. Grill also shared a black and white photo that shows her in her hospital bed and an X-ray of her fracture. Users commented supporting words under the post. The former winter sports athlete Anna Veith wrote, for example: “All the best, Lisa.”
Grill is now going on a long break of probably six to eight months. The ski ace, who recently celebrated success in the European Cup, has been considered Austria’s hope in skiing for years. Grill had previously only returned from a long injury: in 2021 she suffered a fracture from which she suffered for almost 1,000 days. Their comeback therefore only happened recently.
