Are all suitable for all ages? «When choosing an impactful lipstick, in addition to the shade, the finish must be taken into account: some can accentuate or minimize imperfect lips or those with some signs of aging” explains Simone Cascino, our Product Knowledge Coordinator at Kiko.
Lipsticks at 20 years old
Starting from twenty-year-oldsSurely very young girls love brighter and more intense colours, from red: «It is a color that expresses strength, energy, character but also elegance. This age group can wear them with a matte or glossy finish, or decide to start with a matte finish but then transform that same lipstick into a Sparkle with a gloss top coat».
Between 30 and 40 years old, lipsticks are ideal
“Middle” age between the ages of 30 and 40 you can start to wander by choosing not only the nuances of red but also the more sophisticated and “ladylike” ones. The lip contour is not yet marked by small wrinkles, therefore you can choose shades and finishes of all types.

The color most loved by thirty- and forty-year-olds? «Mauve, in all shades. It is an elegant and passepartout color, adapting perfectly to any occasion, refined but not obvious, suitable for almost all skin types. For parties, you can instead range from intense reds to burgundies and shades of brown until purple.”
Regarding the finishes, yes to Sparkle lipsticks, ideal instead of glosses: they don’t migrate and have a more intense color rendering.
Lipstick at 50 and 60: bright but without being glossy
DAt age 50 and above, extreme finishes should be avoided, i.e. either too matte or too shiny. Both types, in fact, tend to emphasize the signs of aging of the lip area and contour. Prefer i creamy lipsticks: they contain hydrating and smoothing ingredients that do not emphasize expression lines and give brightness to the smile” says the expert.
And the nuances? Better to prefer «soft and less noisy toneswhich give delicacy and elegance. The shades of mauves and rosy browns are excellent.”
