Ski racer Linus Straßer was delighted: the German raced to catch up in Adelboden on Sunday and was rewarded with a podium – he also has his ticket for the Olympics in Beijing.

The German ski racer Linus Straßer raced onto the podium again at the Slalom World Cup in Adelboden. After his second place last year, the Munich-based man fought his way up from 14th to third on Sunday thanks to a strong second run and thus secured his ticket for the Olympic Games in Beijing in February.

“The conditions are incredibly difficult and I managed not to make any huge mistakes,” said the technician on ARD, commenting on his best result of the season. Most recently, Straßer fell short of expectations in the World Cup and missed the top 10 in each case.

Austrian celebrates first World Cup victory

The victory surprisingly went to the Austrian Johannes Strolz, who celebrated his first World Cup victory. Compatriot Manuel Feller came in second, 0.17 seconds back.

David Ketterer achieved the second best World Cup result of his career with 23rd place. Anton Tremmel, Julian Rauchfuss and Fabian Himmelsbach had missed the final run.
